THE MOUNTAIN’S STORY
Higher snow is enough. The lift runs for the first time this October, quietly, without a ceremony that would embarrass it. The Boy rents nothing. He rides up and looks at the shore he already knows from the other direction. Skis and a snowboard lean on the rail like animals waiting. The lower forest is still orange. Winter is a guest, not the owner.
Stay: Lodge window
Tomorrow: If the snow is kind, ride it.
