They go inland. The lake is almost hidden. The Polar Bear walks into the mist and the Boy follows to an old jetty. Lanterns hang from the posts, each dated from a previous October. Some are decades old. One is already dated 2026. The Boy adds a lantern. The fog lifts slowly.
