The cottages offer the Boy a key for the rest of the month. He takes it and keeps the secret cabin in his pocket anyway. Rooms along the cliff begin to look lived in: boots, a scarf, a pumpkin that is obviously someone’s and not the fest’s. October, from here, is a place you sleep, not only a route you walk.
