Orange lanterns appear one after another in the mist. The Polar Bear walks between them. The Boy follows. Laughter from distant October Fest camps sounds impossibly far. They reach Ridgepoint Lookout. The telescope points toward the shore. Someone has left a warm beanie and a dated postcard on the platform. The Bear looks through the fog toward the sea. Something is waiting down there.
